Go Karts, slingshots and history all in one week.

We arrived at an unfinished site, the rooms were all finished, as well as the pool area, but the bar was still being finished, it didn’t really make any difference to the holiday though. We turned up very late at night / early in the morning with no-one to greet us, but we did get a list of our rooms from somewhere and mine & Kate’s room was on the ground floor and the balcony doors were open, so we let ourselves in and sat around until everyone had their room keys when someone from reception turned up.

I’m not sure if it was the first night or later in the week, but there was a decision from some of the guys one evening to go late night skinny dipping. They got caught. Also, they didn’t realise that the pool is cleaned at night and some of them got a bit ‘itchy’

I also remember Glenn deciding to shave his back, well he didn’t do the shaving, I think Derek volunteered to help.

We discovered the fun of go-karting on a track near the apartments, where the staff liked to hose down the track on the corners, just to make it more as you ‘drifted’ around the corner. On one such corner, Derek managed to drive into my kart side on and neatly cracked a couple of my ribs.

Those of us still brave / stupid enough to try those things, had a go on the slingshot in Malia town. From 0 – screaming in a millisecond.

We made a visit to the historic city of Rhodes and wandered the ancient streets, still one of my favourite places we’ve visited. James decided it would be a good opportunity to have suit made for himself, and bought what I think was described as his ‘safari suit’.

At the end of the week our flight was very late at night and we had to wait around for the bus to pick us up, but there was nowhere to store our luggage, so we sat around the bar for hours trying to stay awake.
