Agios Stefanos, Corfu. (The one on the East, there’s one on the west coast as well) Another villa. Up a windy steep road that seemed to have been hidden from the main road, perhaps to put people off finding it? Anyway it was a really nice place to stay with views across the little bay over the sea to Albania.

Not far from some of the main tourist areas the little seaside village of Agios Stefanos was very pretty with a couple of shops and tavernas and boat hires. The villa was far bigger than we needed, we could have rotated the bedrooms and had a different one every few days. There was a really nice pool and even a PS2 for the kids. I feel like we managed to fit in quite a lot of stuff during our week. Probably helped by the fact that we hired a couple of cars, so we weren’t tied to the busses or just the area we stayed in.

My mum & dad had also booked to stay in an apartment not far from where we stayed and we got them to come over to the villa for a visit where mum had a swim and we went holiday ‘tat’ shopping. They were booked for two weeks and said in the second week the weather completely changed and they barely managed to get out of their apartment due to the rain.

Other things I remember

  • The fireflies in the bushes along the drive up to the villa
  • The bbq evening
  • Cuss having to get out of the hire car because we couldn’t get it up the steep drive with him, two others and the luggage in the car
  • Hiring the little boat and trying to catch fish with haribo as bait
  • The non existent first aid kit in the boat
  • Having to constantly check the time on phones etc because they would sometimes connect to Albanian networks and they were 1 hour different
  • The castle in Corfu town
  • The massive variation of shops in Corfu town
  • Driving along the North coast and the numerous tourist areas
  • The weird sports event in Kassiopi where we got free food for some reason
  • Trying to finish Tony Hawks on the PS2 without turning off the console for the whole week as we didn’t have a memory card for it.
