Our first visit to Kos. Staying in Tigaki, not far from the Kos town centre. Basically a one road long strip of bars, restaurants and hotels with a few areas to the sides. We stayed in the Mythos apartments, I really liked the rooms, seemed very spacious, but looking back, I think some of the guys who shared were a bit squashed in. There were a few sightings of lizards, there’s a quite large flat salt lake nearby where there was a lot of birdlife. We took the bus into Kos town a couple of times, a beautiful place full of Roman ruins and historic monuments. Great food and a small indoor traditional market.
I have a lot of short memories of the holiday including
- The fish man with his van driving around announcing, in Greek, his fresh fish for sale.
- Going for a long bike ride along the sea road that just seemed to go on forever without getting anywhere.
- Cuss ordering the biggest burger on the island
- The strange modernist cafe area with the old rusting American car
- The trip up to the mountains where we had some delicious goat ribs
- A short tour of the Roman ruins, and the small odeon
- We did find some go-karting
- I managed to get some kind of infection in my finger which was insanely painful
- The family in the apartments near us having massive, really loud rows that everyone could hear all over the apartment block
- The ‘rebar forest’
